H!-Docs Pitch

H!-Docs Pitch is one of the main public pitches for creative feature documentaries, ready to be presented to financiers, from 50 to 70% of the production. Korean directors and producers(K-Project) and international co-production documentaries themed Korea and Asia(A-Project) are qualified to apply. The finalists will join a preparatory workshop, introduce their projects to international panels, and meet potential collaborators. H!-Docs Pitch provides a total amount of 150million KRW to winning projects, partnered with Hyundai Home Shopping.


    • O Total Amount of Funds : 150,000,000 KRW
    •     K-project: 20,000,000KRW to 30,000,000KRW on each
    •     A-project: 15,000,000KRW to 20,000,000KRW on each
    • ※ The funding amount and the number of recipients will be decided by Korean and international juries through pitches.
    • O Fund Conditions
      • • The fund’s recipients should offer the “First Look Option” to EIDF. It’s a priority option to check the rough cut for 2021 EIDF’s screening with Korean premiere. (The delivery date can beextended one more year with a prior agreement.)
      • • During the 2021’s festival, the project will be broadcasted on the EBS channel. So, the selection committee will give a priority toprojects planning to release in 2021 EIDF.
      • • The sponsor, Hyundai Home Shopping, can be available to excerpt less than10% of the entire work for its promotion and social contribution for free.
      • • ‘EIDF Industry’ and ‘Hyundai Home Shopping’ should be credited on the final works with logos.
    • O Pitch Details
      • • All written applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. (As need, interviews shall be required.)
      • • Project teams get 15 minutes total for their presentation; the pitch, including visual materials such as a trailer, lasts 7 minutes; the following 8 minutes are set aside for feedback from the panel.
      • ※ Winning teams will be selected by seven juries consisting of Korean and international experts.

      • • Projects telling stories about Korea or Asia
      • • International co-production projects with Korean producers or directors
      • ※ For international teams without Koreans, the EIDF’s industry will organize one-on-one meetings with Korean producers for its collaboration. The funding recipient or contracting party should be Korean directors, producers, or companies.
      • ※For international participants, the airfare and accommodations for ONE of the team will be supported.

      ※ The deadline strictly enforced and expire at 17:00 Korean Standard Time on the designated date.

    • A personal Information consent form[in the form attached]
    • An entry form (including the participation agreement and personal statement) [in the form attached]
    • A proposal (well written, clear proposals with synopsis, director’s note, treatment, production schedule, budget, financial plan, filmography, and soon, in max. 10 pages)
    • 3 stills from the project
    • A trailer (up to 3 minutes in the 1920*1080, MP4 format)
    • A H!-Docs Pitch Budget Template [in the form attached]
    • ※ Submitted documents will not be returned to the applicant.
    • ※If the applicant doesn’t use the designated forms or submit all required documents, applications may be excluded from the selection process.
    • ※ Please draft the budget in accordance to the *Note in template.


    • • Fund recipients must sign an agreement within a deadline and comply with the terms and conditions of the agreement. If not, the final selection may be canceled and return the confirmed funds to EBS.
    • • After signing the agreement, the amount will be paid with two steps; 70% of the secured fund will be paid in September 2020 and the remaining 30% in February 2021 with a mid-term report.
    • • To guarantee the film’s completion, recipients should register to the guarantee insurance with equivalent to 100% of the amount funded and submit the insurance certificate to the industry.
    • • Fund recipients are required to submit the mid-term expenses and production report to check its progress and the final report when it comes to complete. The final expense reports will be audited by an accounting company designated by the industry.
    • • The films must resolve all copyright issues before its delivery
    • • An applicant can apply for a maximum of two projects.
